Want To Restore Your Curls?

Hey, Curl Babes!

We’ve all been in the position in which our curly hair is super damaged, fried, dry, and we want to learn how to regain our curly hair. Well, Desmaria Love is here to help! Here are some beginner tips to help you get your naturally curly hair back.

Stop the Heat!

Every time you blow out and press your hair, you are straightening your curl pattern. This not only fries your hair (we know you see the smoke come out of that straightener girl) but it also breaks and creates dryness. For the first 6 months of regaining your curly hair, try not to use heat. You can always try new curly hairstyles and rock those for your events. If you insist on using heat, please use a heat protectant.

  Deep Conditioning!

Now that you’ve stopped using heat, we have to give our hair the food it needs to become alive again. Enter deep conditioning. This allows your hair to receive the moisture it needs as well as help your hair become stronger and healthier. There are many different curly hair-friendly deep conditions, go and check your local CVS or Walgreens, or even purchase our Desmaria Love Restorative Hair Serum.

   Stop washing it every day!

Your scalp produces oil that are vital to your hair. By washing your hair every day, you are essentially stripping your hair of these oils, causing it to be a lot drier. Depending on the type of your hair, you can go 2-3 days without washing or even 7 days. If you’re struggling with greasiness, there are also many curly hair-friendly dry shampoos.

                                     Natural hair mask!

Similar purposes as deep conditioning, just a lot better. If you don’t have any deep conditioning products at hand, you can always make your own at-home natural mask. One of our favorites is a Mayonnaise and Egg mask. In a bowl: whisk two eggs and 5 tablespoons of mayonnaise together. Once it forms into a paste you can apply it from roots to end, cover your hair with a shower cap, and leave it on for 15 to 20 minutes. Do you see how easy that was?

 Protect your hair at night!

Not only is it important to protect your hair from heat but also from our cotton pillows. When your hair isn’t protected it’s more prone to break and have a lot more frizz as a result of all the moving you do while sleeping. You can invest in a silk pillowcase, a silk/satin bonnet, or do the infamous pineapple.
