Need A Curly Hair Routine?
Okay, so after 10 tries you are now fully committed to sticking to your curly hair journey. Great! Where do you start? Well, we’re here to help. The important thing is figuring out a routine that works for you. Here is an idea for a routine.
Shampoo & Conditioner
This one is kind of obvious. Before, you do anything you should was your hair. We recommend you use sulfate, paraben, silicone-free products, as those ingredients will strip the moisture from your hair and cause build-up. Also, quick tip if you can’t pronounce or read the ingredient, it’s probably not that good for your hair. Side Note: Who else runs out of conditioner before they run out of shampoo? Hopefully, it’s not just me.
Leave-In Conditioner
Now that you’ve washed your hair and have a clean canvas, you can start applying products. Leave-In Conditioner will help you keep that soft feel, keep the moisture, and it also makes styling easier. Section your hair evenly in different sections and apply.
Defining Curly Hair Cream
Next, is using a product that will help define your hair. These products can come in butter or creams and can work well depending on your hair type. After applying your cream/butter, you can use a comb or a curly-friendly brush (Denman brush for example) and brush through your hair. You can also use the brush to makeshift curls by simply wrapping your hair around the brush handle. This helps to evenly distribute the product ensuring better-defined curls.
Gel or Mouse
Last but not least, we recommend you apply a gel to your hair. The gel will hold the definition of your curls and make sure they will last at least 3 days. To apply, after you brush your curls, with the gel in your hands, scrunch the curls in an upward motion.
Oil
Now that you’ve put in your gel, you can wait for it to dry and apply the oil. Or after putting on the gel, you can apply the oil. Focus mainly on your ends (especially if you have dry ends) and then use the remaining oil to distribute throughout your entire hair.
